One Calendar, One Big Change

The CBDT has staggered the AY 2026-27 calendar. Salaried individuals and investors keep the classic date, while ITR-3 and ITR-4 filers without audit get a full extra month, new from this year. Your return is still governed entirely by the Income Tax Act, 1961, even though the Income Tax Act, 2025 is already in force, because it relates to income earned before 1 April 2026.

Who you are Form Due date
Salaried, pensioners, capital gains investors ITR-1 / ITR-2 31 July 2026
Freelancers, consultants, proprietors, no audit ITR-3 / ITR-4 31 August 2026 · new this year
Businesses requiring tax audit ITR-3 / ITR-5 / ITR-6 31 October 2026
Transfer pricing cases with Form 3CEB 30 November 2026
Missed it, belated return any form 31 December 2026
Fixing a mistake, revised return any form 31 March 2027, extended this year

Dates as notified for AY 2026-27, subject to CBDT changes. Filing utilities were released early this season, so waiting for an extension is not a strategy.

Who We File For

Every Kind of Taxpayer, One Standard of Care

Four very different filing lives, one team that reconciles AIS and Form 26AS line by line before anything gets submitted.

💼

Salaried and Capital Gains

Form 16, ESOPs, multiple employers, share and property gains. We reconcile AIS and Form 26AS before filing, so nothing triggers a mismatch notice months later.

🌎

NRIs and Foreign Nationals

India sourced salary, rent, capital gains or interest. DTAA relief, foreign tax credit and Schedule FA disclosures, handled by a team that does cross border work every single day.

🧾

Freelancers and Proprietors

Presumptive taxation under 44AD and 44ADA where it genuinely saves you money, full books where it does not, and the new 31 August window used wisely rather than as an excuse to delay.

🏢

Founders and Directors

Director remuneration, dividends, ESOP perquisites and unlisted shareholding disclosures, coordinated with your company filings so both stories match.

The Stakes

Why the Date Actually Matters

Miss it and Section 234F charges a late fee of up to Rs 5,000, interest under Section 234A runs at 1 percent a month on unpaid tax, most losses cannot be carried forward, and your choice of tax regime gets restricted. File early instead: refunds land faster, visa files look cleaner, and July stops being stressful.

FAQs

Questions We Get Every July

Will the deadline be extended like last year?

Unlikely. The department released forms and utilities months early this season and the portal has been stable. Plan for 31 July or 31 August depending on your form, not for a rescue.

Does the new Income Tax Act, 2025 change my filing this year?

No. AY 2026-27 covers income earned up to 31 March 2026, so the Income Tax Act, 1961 governs it fully. The new Act applies from next year onwards.

Which ITR form applies to me?

Broadly, ITR-1 for simple salary income, ITR-2 for capital gains or foreign assets without business income, ITR-3 for business or profession, ITR-4 for presumptive cases. Filing the wrong form invites a defective return notice, so we confirm this first, free.

I already filed and found a mistake. Now what?

You can revise until 31 March 2027 this year, extended from the old December cutoff. Revisions after 31 December attract a fee, so fix it sooner rather than later.

I am an NRI. Do I even need to file?

If your India sourced income crosses the basic exemption limit, or you want a refund of TDS deducted on rent, interest or property sale proceeds, yes. Very often the filing pays for itself through the refund.
